What is it?

Killie 2 Coast is CHAP’s annual 18-mile fundraising walk from Kilmarnock to Ardrossan.

When is it?

This year’s K2C walk takes place on Friday 22nd May 2026.

Do I need to walk the full route?

Not at all! Everyone is welcome to join us along the way and walk for a section that suits them. There will be a joining point in each of the towns along the route (please see details below) and this can be specified when you sign up. We’d love for everyone to finish at Ardrossan with us if they can as there will be a selection of food and soft drinks available for all participants.

How do I take part?

To sign up, please fill in our online registration form here:

REGISTRATION FORM

Is there a joining fee?

No, there’s no fee to take part in K2C, but we kindly ask all participants to get family, friends or colleagues to sponsor them by making a donation.

How can people donate?

Donations can be made online by visiting our JustGiving campaign page here:

JUSTGIVING CAMPAIGN PAGE

All donations - whether large or small - are gratefully received and go directly to support the delivery of our free advice and support services across Ayrshire.

What should I wear?

Although we’re hoping for a sunny day on the 22nd, there are no guarantees when it comes to Scottish weather! Please ensure that your clothing and footwear is comfortable and suitable for walking outdoors in all types of weather. Even if it’s warm, it’s a good idea to bring a lightweight fleece and/or waterproof jacket as conditions can change quickly - particularly when we reach the coast. On sunny days, please consider wearing a hat, sunglasses and bring suncream for protection. For the full 18-mile challenge, we recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes or boots that have already been worn in. Trainers may be suitable for walking shorter sections of the route.

What should I bring with me?

Along with additional clothing as mentioned above, we recommend you bring your phone (fully charged!) and some cash or a card for buying lunch, snacks, or drinks along the way. Although we’ll provide bottles of water, you may want to bring your own.

Are there any toilet facilities?

Yes, there are a number of public toilets available along the route. These are:

  • Kilmarnock - CentreStage
  • Dreghorn - Dreghorn Library
  • Irvine - The Portal and Rivergate Shopping Centre
  • Kilwinning - Railway Station
  • Stevenston - Morrisons
  • Saltcoats - Auchenharvie Leisure Centre, Aldi, and ‘The Braes’ public toilets
  • Ardrossan - The Michael Lynch Centre for Enterprise

Will there be any support during the walk?

Yes, we’ll have a support vehicle available at all times travelling between the designated joining points along the route. The vehicle will have a registered first aider with access to a basic first aid kit and items such as blister plasters for anyone who needs them. The vehicle will also be stocked with additional bottles of water and snacks. A contact number for the support team will be provided to everyone taking part.

What is the procedure for joining the walk?

Once your name has been checked against our register, you’ll be provided with a hi-vis vest that must be worn for your safety throughout the event. Bottles of water will be distributed by our marshals to keep everyone hydrated. Everyone will be given a contact number to call or text if they require any assistance from our support team or wish to leave the walk at any point. As people walk at different paces, we’ll have 3 groups walking at slightly different speeds. Each of these groups will have their own designated walk leader to follow. Don’t worry, you don’t need to decide on which group to join straight away - this will come naturally to each person and may change as the day goes on.

Will transport be provided to join or leave the walk?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide a transport service for the event. All participants are solely responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the point they wish to join and finish the walk.

Route, Distances & Timings

The route follows pedestrian pavements and paths - mostly alongside busy main roads. Caution is advised at all times and especially when crossing roads safely.
