Disability Living Allowance (Long Covid)
The Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) has recently updated it’s guidance on post-Covid Syndrome for its Decision makers when dealing with Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claims for children.
The guidance stated that children who have hade Covid and still have significant impairment at 12 weeks and do no seem to be recovering, may have an entitlement to DLA. They must however still meet the qualifying period and prospective test must be considered first.
It also states that the child does not need to have had a positive test result to be diagnosed with the syndrome and that a 12-month award is appropriate for children whose disablement is solely the result of this post-Covid syndrome.
No equivalent guidance exits for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) or Attendance Allowance yet.
